ABOUT ME
The artworks on these links are either for sale as originals or as signed limited edition Giclee prints. Giclee reproductions are amazingly like their originals. In fact, I have several Giclee scans that I think are better than their originals. This is because the Giclee process allows you to produce prints at sizes different from the original. For example, some of my original flower paintings are 12”x9”, but larger Giclee prints of them bring out levels of detail that are very striking.

For prices, originals range anywhere from $250 to several thousand dollars. Giclee prints begin at $50; the larger signed limited editions are in the $200 range.

Custom greeting cards can be made of many of my pieces. I handle these case-by-case. I also welcome commissioned work.

I only take orders by email correspondence at this address: davidwang.arts@gmail.com

My color work captures feelings and emotions rather than photo-like representations. For example, when I paint flowers, I try to capture how their colors relate to their surroundings in telling a story. One of my on-going projects in painting flowers is for each to contain 1) the flowers; 2) in a room; 3) with a window.

My black and white work are more representational. Over the years I sold many pen and ink “portraits” of architectural subjects, both here in Spokane, Washington, and in the Philadelphia area where I worked as an architect while teaching architecture. It still gives me a lot of pleasure to capture architectural subjects in pen and ink, and also in pencil.

Check out my one-liners. These are not so much representational as they are single outflows of “Qi” in capturing one idea in a continuous line. A single line can express so much life by its varying depths, weights, tonalities, directions, and so on.

I am an architect by training. I have also taught architecture at several universities. My longest tenure was at Washington State University. I continue to teach and write.

My life interests are art, architecture, philosophy (both Chinese and Western) and theology. In my mind they are all pieces of one whole. As this website moves forward, my blog page will contain my reflections and ruminations about these subjects.

I look forward to hearing from you. Again, please contact me at davidwang.arts@gmail.com
